Vaccinations Liverpool
NHS & private vaccines at your local pharmacy
Protecting yourself and your family against serious illness has never been more straightforward. We offer a comprehensive range of NHS and private vaccinations, administered by our trained pharmacists in a comfortable, private setting.
Some vaccinations are available on a walk-in basis, whilst others require a pre-booked appointment. Contact your nearest branch to check availability and book — we’ll make the process as simple as possible.
We also offer dedicated standalone services for flu vaccinations and travel vaccinations.
Vaccinations we offer
As an NHS pharmacy, we’re proud to offer a number of our vaccinations free of charge to eligible patients. Whether you qualify depends on your age, vaccination history and individual health circumstances – and our pharmacists will always check your eligibility before any treatment takes place.
For vaccinations that fall outside NHS funding, we offer competitively priced private appointments so that cost is never a barrier to staying protected.
Meningitis B (MenB)
Meningitis B is a bacterial infection of the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord, caused by Neisseria meningitidis group B. It is one of the most common causes of bacterial meningitis in the UK and can be life-threatening, causing serious complications including septicaemia, hearing loss and limb loss.
The NHS is currently offering free MenB vaccines to eligible students – find out more at our London Road pharmacy.
Diphtheria, Tetanus & Polio (DTP)
The DTP vaccine protects against three serious bacterial and viral infections: diphtheria, which can cause severe throat and airway problems; tetanus, a potentially life-threatening condition affecting the nervous system; and polio, a virus that can cause paralysis.
Most people receive DTP vaccination as part of the NHS childhood immunisation schedule. However, boosters may be recommended for adults who are travelling to certain destinations, have not completed their primary course, or have not had a booster in the last ten years.
Japanese Encephalitis
Japanese encephalitis is a viral brain infection spread by mosquito bites in rural parts of Asia and the Far East. Whilst rare in short-term travellers, the risk increases for those spending extended periods outdoors in agricultural or forested areas, particularly during the monsoon season.
There is no specific treatment for Japanese encephalitis, making vaccination the most effective form of protection. The vaccine is given as two doses, usually at least one month apart.
Typhoid
Typhoid fever is a bacterial infection caused by Salmonella typhi, spread through contaminated food and water. It is prevalent in parts of South Asia, sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia and Latin America, and can cause a serious, prolonged illness if left untreated.

Rabies
Rabies is a serious viral infection transmitted through the bite or scratch of an infected animal – most commonly dogs, bats and monkeys. It is almost always fatal once symptoms develop, making pre-exposure vaccination an important consideration for certain travellers and professionals.
Vaccination is recommended for travellers visiting high-risk countries, particularly those spending time in rural areas, working with animals, or undertaking activities such as cycling or trekking where access to post-exposure treatment may be limited.
HPV (Human Papillomavirus)
HPV is a common group of viruses spread through skin-to-skin contact, including sexual activity. Some strains of HPV can cause genital warts, whilst others are linked to several types of cancer including cervical, anal, throat and penile cancers.
The HPV vaccine is highly effective at preventing the strains of HPV most likely to cause cancer and is routinely offered to young people through the NHS school immunisation programme.
Hepatitis A
Hepatitis A is a liver infection caused by a virus spread through contaminated food and water, and through close contact with an infected person. It is common in parts of Africa, Asia, Central and South America, and the Middle East.
Vaccination is recommended for travellers to high-risk destinations, those with certain liver conditions, and people at increased occupational risk. A single dose provides protection for up to one year; a booster extends this to around 25 years.
Chickenpox (Varicella)
Chickenpox is a highly contagious infection caused by the varicella-zoster virus. Whilst usually mild in young children, it can cause serious complications in adults, newborns, pregnant women and those with weakened immune systems.
The chickenpox vaccine is not routinely offered on the NHS to healthy children in the UK, but private vaccination is available for those who have not had chickenpox and wish to protect themselves or their families. It is given as two doses at least four weeks apart.
Cholera
Cholera is an acute bacterial infection of the intestine caused by contaminated water and food. Severe cases can lead to rapid dehydration and, without treatment, can be life-threatening. It remains a risk in parts of Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Central America.
The cholera vaccine is taken orally as a drink and is recommended for travellers to areas with active outbreaks or poor sanitation, as well as aid workers and those responding to humanitarian emergencies.
